SiegeXXL is a mod for Unreal Tournament that adds elements of strategy to the Unreal Tournament game engine. It can be played on all Capture The Flag maps - where the flag is replaced by a ‘Base Core’. The object of the game is to destroy the opposite team’s Base Core.

The game is based around collecting ‘RU’, or ‘Resource Units’, in order to build up your base. The more you build, the more maximum RU you have. The more RU you can collect, the more you can build, and so on. Building more also helps strenghten your base from attack, thereby defending your Base Core.

You can increase your RU through a number of different means -

* Collecting the RU scattered around the map, at the beginning of the game
* Killing your opponents
* Killing the opposite team’s Base Core or buildings

You can increase your maximum RU by creating ‘Containers’, the building blocks of Siege. Once they have been created, each container will increase your max RU by 50.

You start the game with only a piston, an Enforcer and a ‘Constructor’. The Constuctor is the method of accessing Siege’s menu - scroll through your weapons until you reach the sniper (or select your sniper rifle via the appopriate key) - then select it once more. Your HUD should now be displaying your Constructor. You can scroll through the various options in your Constructor by using the right mouse button, and selecting the appropriate option with the left mouse button. The various top-level options are as follows:

* Upgrade - this allows you to upgrade your buildings. In order to strengthen your base, your buildings and your fortifications, you must upgrade them. Each upgrade will cost you some RU - some more than others - but upgrading will fortify your base and allow you to progress further into the game. Buildings can be upgraded to a maximum of level 5.
* Repair - this will allow you to repair buildings that have come under attack from your opponents. You may also repair your fellow team mates.
* Remove - the ability to remove a building that your team has created.
* Fortification - this category will allow you to strenghten and protect your base from attack.
* Supplier - this category will provide you with extra weapons, health, ammo and many other items useful to your survival.
* Items - this category will provide you with extra weapons, health, ammo and many other items useful to your survival.
* Teleporter - depending on your version of Siege, this option could be unavailable. This object will allow you to create teleporters to transport you around the map
* Explosives - depending on your version of Siege, this option could be unavailable. This category will provide you with extra explosives to help you obliterate your opponent!
* Suits - depending on your version of Siege, this option could be unavailable. This category will provide you various suits that will help protect you, and enhance your abilities
