Postby Isotoxin » Fri Jul 13, 2012 11:28 pm

Well, I'm not sure if this is the right topic but... I'm getting more and more involved to the AS scene, and, I've been playing Revelations maps today. I'm intrested to see some more, quality AS maps, Do you know some of them? Post them here!

Gameplay wise, this is a good one, but needs serious bugfixing in order to properly work with bots and no log spam.
It's ok online though, may want to lower resolution on a laggy zone...

UPDATE

If you played quality AS maps, you played this one already, leaving it anyways.

It's kinda clear I like big maps, when player count exceeds 16, make sure attackers outnumber defenders or you won't make it in time to the end.

I always liked this one...

http://www.unrealplayground.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=968

Varpu did an update a few years back to fix some bugs -- he put a lot of thought in it and iirc it runs really well with bots...

Well, i think if you haven't already, you should play through these (these are kinda like "pro" league maps)
http://www.utassault.net/leagues/required.php/

once you see how these work for real assault matches (actually online assault) you can then appreciate better why all the newer high detail maps can never get played online.
I'm not saying that's bad, just that there are many more offline maps in ut99 than there are online maps - not always due to popularity, many just don't work or lag like hell
so proper online play is impossible - they can still be enjoyed offline though :)

I agree with the awesome guy with the avatar of Futurama. Some of the maps are very funny even in the offline!
I downloaded all the packs from GameFront through MiPony, installed them all with Map Manager. I saw some of them, and every five maps there is one good that has bot support and nice plot/objectives for an Assault map.

When I will clean my folder I'll let you know what are my Assault maps (requests from the maps are: bot support and FUNNY!) :)

I do not want to agree or disagree with the guy mentioned in the quotes above this sentence, but USERNAMES exist for some reason.

Some famous maps in the Assault League community:
- AS-Riverbed
- AS-Navarone
- AS-Ballistic
- AS-Desertstorm (imo the best UT map)
- AS-Golgotha
- AS-Golgotha][
- AS-Ballistic
- AS-AutoRIP
- AS-LavaFort
- AS-Saqqara
- AS-Tydium
- AS-TheDungeon
- AS-TheScarab
- AS-Nalicolony

* many have AL versions which are preferable over other versions.

Just go play/spec some PUGs and you'll understand what quality AS-maps are.

Almost forgot, also watch the video "Assault Legendary" by orchild. I'm sure you'll see some interesting things ;)

I keep forgetting this thread is here when I'm home.

Until i can give a proper list, an unfortuinate truth I've learned is some of the best AS maps are massive memory crunchers, so overly detailed you can barely do much more than admire how nice the map looks but moving just about kills the system.

I'll try to remember to put up a list the next time I'm home.
