If 1 goes down, the other is also likely to be unavailable.

i have a master server that supports all games on the unreal engine:

master2.oldunreal.com
and a second master which will be on a different server but currently pointed to the same server as master2.oldunreal.com:

master.dxmp.net

these are both on the default ports.

So if hosters could add these to their uplinks, as well.

Today is one day after Zero Hour. The Gamespy Masterserver seems still online. Today, my friends and I played like there is no tomorrow. We will keep playing as long as it is online, as a token of appreciation for all those years. One more match. Until it goes to sleep forever.

It's a milestone in the UT history for sure - the time where we woke up and realized that it all can end just with the snap if we don't have people like you Darkelarious who plans ahead. Had Epic not reopened their server(s) and you not created an alternative...... - poof!

I must admit it surprises me that it is still up 3 days later. I think this is more a case of when it does turn off for whatever reason then there will be nobody starting it again. Maybe it is some effort to stop, maybe a rental will expire, who knows. Whatever the case it won't be coming back when it shuts down. Wish they would consider routing the subdomains to another (independent) host. I guess you tried asking them this Dark? LOL, nevermind, I forgot you don't do that.

Good spot. I just noticed that my in-game browser won't work with some game categories now. If I enumerate the "UT Servers" list there are not problems. If I select, say, "Rocket Arena" then it tries to connect to the Gamespy master and fails. Not sure why this is (why it's trying to use the GS master I mean).
