We should go for maybe 2 months - wrap it sometime in november - that should mean lots of maps
my suggested rules:
1. contest map entry should be 512 KB - with or without brushes (mapper's choice)
2. use only the standard ut99 packages and standard BPs, and that includes UTX, UMX, UAX, U, etc.
3. all custom textures, custom meshies, or other custom actors etc MUST be in MyLevel
EXCEPT (see list of exceptions)
4. A level screenshot is mandatory !!!! no blank screenshots !!!! (these can be as small as 4k so that's not asking too much, lol)
5. Each contest map a mapper submits should be a link to a ZIP, in which there is ONE contest map UNR (512K or less), all custom packages (size will be added to the UNR size)
ONE screenie of the map, and ONE quick little readme text file) The zip can then be attached to a POST in the contest thread, etc. The main reason for the ZIP is at the end of the contest there is usually a mappack and all those ZIPped things are needed to make a proper mappack.
6. At the end of the contest the MAPPERS (and possibly PUBLIC?) should vote for top five maps in a poll (or top two of each type etc - we should discuss this
Concurrently all the contest entries can live on a server - the server could be built up throughout the contest to server as a test bed for maps
List of Exceptions (IMO):
A. swJumpad.u actor
- for easy wootPads and since EVERYONE has this actor it seems rather pointless to MyLevel it - in fact, i don't think you can MyLevel it - dunno, Jack?
B. xPickups maybe ?
C. ...
