UnrealEd 2.0 Video Tutorial now on YouTube

Post by smeerkat »

Hi everyone, I just uploaded my first video tutorial (building your first room in UnrealEd) :

This replaces the website version that I used to have back in the day. It had about 40 screenshots, so it was easier to just upload a video to YouTube. 8)

My other UnrealEd tutorials can be found in the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20041204005 ... tutorials/

Cool thing! I just wanna add that you can always add regulars lights, no matter what you selected in the Actor Class Browser - which I find more handy. :lol:

I just wantto thank you for your work. I usually don't like Youtube tutorials at all but yours is as good as it can be, it covers a lof of points and you spared us all the "uuuh" and "hmmm" that every other video has and it's refreshing.
You must construct additional pylons.

The Editor is very sensitive and prone to crashing at times - at least in my experiences so far.

I wanted to ask if there were any ini settings that needed changing before you used the editor.

I would recommend to set autosave to 5 minutes or shorter/longer if you need.
UnrealTournament.ini wrote:[Editor.EditorEngine]
UseSound=True
CacheSizeMegs=6
GridEnabled=True
SnapVertices=True
SnapDistance=10.000000
GridSize=(X=8.000000,Y=8.000000,Z=8.000000)
RotGridEnabled=True
RotGridSize=(Pitch=1024,Yaw=1024,Roll=1024)
GameCommandLine=-log
FovAngleDegrees=90.000000
GodMode=True
AutoSave=True
AutoSaveTimeMinutes=5

AutoSaveIndex=9
TextureLock=True
SelectionLock=True
But I would also recommend to use the Unreal Editor 2.1 from patch 227 for building the BSP and the UEd2.0 for pathing and lighting and other stuff.
