I've always used desktops for gaming, but this time around I'm considering buying a laptop instead.
What models do you recommend? Can I get a dual core machine for UT99?

yearh, why not? Myself has a AMD Dual Core.. with this installed AMD dual core optimizer or however this thing is exactly called for example no problem, I am sure there are solutions for Intel Quad core users, too.

Best laptop for UT99? Are you kidding. Dual cores run at 5ghz! *5000mhz*
Reccomended system specs are
200 MHz Intel Pentium II 266 MHz
Memory 32 MB 64 MB
Hard Drive Space 120 MB of free space 605 MB of free space
You can buy a $50 laptop of craigslist, a old dell perhaps and play UT with no issues.
I reccomend at least a Pentium 3 1ghz laptop or higher.
