Can anyone explain in short
1) How author aliases work?
2) How to get that aliases file into the repository.
My guess: the name of the alias file is the name of the author and the text lines in it are the aliases. But the file name character set may be restricted.
1. The file name can be anything, it doesn't get used for aliases, it's just the file name. The first name at the top of the file is the one that will be displayed, the others will all get mapped as aliases to the first.
2. You can open a PR on the repo, or just share a text file here and I can add it for you.
EDIT:
Simple example for later reference:
new file:
bob-jones.txt
contents:
Code: Select all
Bob "BJ" Jones
BJ
BobbyJ
Bob Jones <bj@bobmail.bob>
In the above example, any content where the author is listed as any of the entries from lines 2, 3, 4, will be published under the first name: 'Bob "BJ" Jones'.

How often does UA update it's "latest additions" list?
Because it seems to be taking a lot longer than it used to.

you do need to refresh the page on some browsers. Usually once every 2-3 days.

Okay, it's updated now (Yay!) and one of my skins showed up:
https://unrealarchive.org/skins/unreal- ... adcca.html
But, I uploaded the male & female skins at the same time... yet only the female one showed up.
Why?
Also uploaded another 2 skins, 1 of which was before the Starfleet skins, but they haven't shown up either.
I'm confused.

For some reason, the Starfleet male skins package has been included as a variation of the female Starfleet skins.

Yet it's not on there anywhere. Nor are the other 2 skins I submitted.
Should I upload it again or wait and see?

The Starfleet male skin package is on there - if you go to the Starfleet Female skin package and click on the link under Variations you will bring up the Male Skin. Of course it needs to be there separately.
At the bottom of the page for the Female Skin, click on the link Report a Problem and this will take you to the Issues for UA on GitHub (you'll need an account) where you can report that issue. I would do it but for a variety of reasons I can no longer easily access GitHub from my desktop Mac.
Don't know about the other 2 skins - it should be possible to find out the progress on those from another UA page on Github Pull Requests.

Reported the Starfleet Male skin as an issue.
Looks like 3 separate Robocop skin packages were uploaded - one of these failed a check. Presumably the other two are awaiting merging.
A Maga skin was also uploaded and passed the checks.
So just a matter of time (probably).

Can.t add this two maps:
CTF-1on1-Egypt-SE.rar
CTF-1on1-Egypt.zip
Looks like they're already there, or someone uploaded maps with the same names ·
https://unrealarchive.org/search/index. ... tf%20egypt

Looks to me that it is down to the search syntax. Enclose each of the search terms with inverted commas " " - so "CTF" "1on1" "Egypt" will find it and will find only that map.

Yeah, all but the RoboCop one are there now.

Although, about this one...
https://unrealarchive.org/skins/unreal- ... 50ad6.html
...the skin has 5 faces, but the display there only lists 4.
Any idea why?

Not really - perhaps the - in the middle of the name of the 'missing' face means that it wasn't parsed correctly?
RoboCop is now up there
