removing piston cannon

hi, I'm new to forum, pleasure to meet all you fellow UT99 players.

I have a problem. I use the teledisk.... A LOT.
But I often times accidentally select the piston cannon instead.

Is there any to turn off the piston cannon?
When I press 1, I only want to select the teledisk.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I think Stuff-Swapper can do this. You select the start weapon you want.

I suggest binding the translocator to Q (or A if you're using an azerty keyboard), just underneath the 1. This way instead of selecting a weapon slot (which is shared between two weapons in the case of the impact hammer and translocator), you select a specific weapon. You can do that in the normal preferences menu under control.

And what about the arrow key player?

Using "q" it's my default setup bringing up this weapon having this setting in User.Ini

Code: Select all

Q=getweapon Translocator
It works better when key "1" is cycling through piston and other weapon too slow...

They should accept that this is a terrible layout with no easily accessible binds.

Sometimes that happens if you click on left and right button on the mouse too fast to cause it to switch.

All good ideas, all unnecessary.

When you start any game, under 1 of the tabs there's an option to select 1 or the other for a game.

Not home right now so I can't screenshot it.

I actually am 1 and never had a problem with this, as I noticed that thing in general setup of any game almost immediately.

Did you ever use another layout? I used the arrows for years and had no problem. One day I used the zqsd layout which is default in most games and suddenly found it impossible to go back. Had I not tried, I would have been none the wiser.

Never liked that much, though I did for a time go with the WASD as it lines up a bit better.

French keyboard layout is strange...

I tried "wesd" and "wasd" ...and I didn't liked it, because in the heat of a battle I need space around my movement keys.
The transloc/impacthammer key is on numpad-1 on my layout. The weapons are on numpad-keys as well.

zqsd is wasd on the azerty layout, forgive me.
Funny you should say that because I changed prcisely because in the heat of battle I needed to change weapon instantly without my my hand releasing any movement key. But then again, I was using the spacebar to jump and I had to release either the keys or the mouse to jump. Unsurprisingly, I wasn't a very good player then. :P

The Spacebar and arrow keys??? :omfg:
I use numbad-0 and it works very well... till now.

I'm looking for a gaming keyboard where the WASD is more straight ...I don't like it to be so skewed.
I don't use 10 finger writing techniques... :pfff:
