Public IPToCountry Server for ut99 by unrealkillers.com

With the recent cease of ut-files I figured I should make an official post about the unofficial iptocountry that many use anyway. I do actively maintain the DBs at unrealkillers.com so you can use this as primary and use the unrealadmin one as secondary if you wish.

To setup:

ut-slv has been down for almost a year....maybe you should take that off.

Once the DNS finish propogating for the others today, I will post the further iptocountry servers. So in total we will provide three on separate domains and hosting

What do you mean 333? If 333network offer iptocountry db, it's nothing to do with me.

I will be posting two others later today (hopefully) so in total there will be three and then the utgl.unrealadmin.org too which will give good redundancy.

Not meaning to dredge up an old thread but is anyone still hosting an IPToCountry server? They all appear down now.

Did you paste the URLs in your browser to check? It's http://location/ip2country.php?lookup=ipaddr something like that, will return the country name of the IP. It can look up many at the same time though as well. I know medor keeps a list of active ones over at his site, however could be a problem resolving the ip2country hostnames to ip addresses on the server machine setup. One more thing I'd say is to mess around with the timeout and limits, as well as try disable the host to ip resolving from it's ini file

Fresh install, new ini files. Each of the IP's posted on the original thread all timeout, likely are down. No one uses IPtoCountry on their servers any more? It's cool if no one does. I can recode my scoreboard to say everyone is from "North Pole" and that would be fine. I was more wondering if it was still working.

I think you should do that for the lulz. Re-write the serverside package iptocountry to give a simple North Pole reading so it is compatible with all mods scoreboard and such. Is there a country code for North Pole though? You'll need that too. I don't know what you'll want to have it return for that one. Luckily your scoreboard only shows the country name though so you should be alright

By the way, TheDane set one up on the forum domain in your sig... but you would've checked that

XBrowser and XServerQuery handle country flags, can you not use that ?
