Basically Gearbox - new owner for the Duke Nukem series - gave permission for a fanbased Duke Nukem project request (remake of Duke 3D, check the video and you will see the start of the first episode) as long its uncommercial. Project will be realized with UDK.

Yes, it's really awesome of them.
Other companies just suck and just shut things down.
Even the new duke is coming out, but I'm really enjoying the vaporware.
