Re: Unreal 2 Exporting
Apart from the fact that you must not use textures from Unreal 2 for any other Unreal-related game since it was produced by another company and it didn't give the permission, here's an explanation:
- First you export the textures you want to have (right click => export to file) It will save the texture ín .dds.
- Now you convert the texture to .pcx or .bmp, e.g. with XnView. That means that you load the texture in your programm, then you set 128 colours and 32Bit. If necessary, half the size of the texture. Then you save it as .pcx. If that causes problems, choose .bmp.
- Now you can import the new texture in UnrealED 2

Re: Unreal 2 Exporting
This harkens back to my legalities post in regards to importing Unreal2 Skaarj into ut2k4, which EvilEngine successfully did...
...why is this bad exactly?
I mean, people import textures from Quake into various Unreal games all the time but nobody ever seems to make a big deal about that.

Post one of the small texture packages from the game. Let me try an external exporter.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Re: Unreal 2 Exporting
Okay, I didn't understand what you meant at first. As I have Unreal 2 I decided to give it a shot.
It literally will not allow you to export any files. I encountered the same problem.
Not sure what to tell you though. I've no need of the textures outside of the u2 so I've never looked into this before.

Re: Unreal 2 Exporting
Yes, it's possible. I just downloaded the XMP multi demo and it took about 15 seconds to make this:
Texture zip
Looking at the textures in some of the files you will certainly have to remember that U2 uses shaders and other concepts beyond what UT is capable of handling. On the surface though it appears the actual meshes themselves could be usable though the articulation won't work. I'd stick with static models. Same with the textures, if you have problems getting the texture out then I'd advise skipping it because there is some reason it's not working right with UT code.
BTW, have you seen this: http://www.unreal.shaungoeppinger.com/moncell.html
Iniquitous is a super-nice fellow, he taught me to code originally. Perhaps this method could be applied to UT textures if he showed you how.

Re: Unreal 2 Exporting
You can export some of them. Many are not compatible with UT but you can look through and see what you can get. Use an external program like WOTgreal exporter or UTPackageTool and don't use the editor. Extract as bmp and not pcx.

Once and for all, stop annoy me with those retarded PMs, I wont reply you any further. I am not supposed to be your personal contact person.avresdanisman wrote:m8 i want to Unrealed 2.1 versiyon ,Maybe i can convert Static Meshes for UED 2.0,But what can i download UT version.
The question itself is super-retarded anyway. .. better not talking about your english skills, right?

Well, I am not sure if I would go that far. But indeed he is extremely annoying. Just j/kMetalfist wrote:Useless.
He really can count himself lucky that I aborded my job as moderator.
But I guess the worst part about it is his non-existing english skill. I really dont like to act like this normally but he does not leave us any other choice!

Re: Unreal 2 Exporting
It may not be 'his' English. I sometimes get the impression he's using a generic bad internet translation matrix.Creavion wrote:better not talking about your english skills, right?
I use this:
http://translate.google.com/#
That is, unless, he's deliberately doing it but that's just too wonky a concept.

It's usless that he's gonna spam everyone with pms and asking something that doesn't make sense (English skills). Find someone to translate it or ask somebody from your own language if you can't speak English(?)
